Appointment of New General Manager Operations East Africa

New Director of Strategic Initiatives Established for Major Growth

Marula Mining PLC (AQSE: MARU A2X: MAR) an African focused mining and development company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Christopher Attwood as the Company's new General Manager Operations East Africa, effective immediately.

Mr. Attwood brings with him over 25 years of international experience in the mining and extractive industries, with significant operational and leadership roles across Africa, Australia, and Central Asia dealing with various commodities including gold, copper, lead, coal and Rare Earths.

With more than a decade of experience in African mining, Mr. Attwood offers extensive knowledge of local stakeholder engagement, workforce development, and safety-first leadership.

His appointment supports the Company's commitment of rapidly advancing its East African portfolio, including current, as well as potential future new mining and processing operations throughout the region. 

The Company is also pleased to announce the promotion of Mr Edward Ruheni, to a new role as Director of Strategic Initiatives (non-board position). In this role Mr. Ruheni will be focused on driving growth across the Company's critical metals mining, processing operations and planned metals refining and value-addition portfolio in the East African region.

Highlights:

·    Mr. Attwood will lead day-to-day operations across all of the Company's East African projects and investments, overseeing all aspects of mining, processing, port, haulage, technical services, and general site operations across the Company's current and planned projects in the region.

·    Within his appointed capacity, he will be ensuring activities comply with all the relevant government regulatory requirements and that these activities are implemented in accordance with the Company's environmental, health, safety and ESG policies at all times.

·    He holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering and a Higher National Diploma in Minerals Engineering from the Camborne School of Mines, UK.

·    Mr. Attwood has held senior management roles at major mining companies including Barrick (North Mara, Tanzania), Rainbow Rare Earths (Burundi), Edenville Energy (Tanzania), and Bisha Mining (Eritrea), where he led teams and improved operational output across gold, copper, coal, and rare earth mines.

·    He has successfully led brownfield restarts, greenfield project development, and operational transformations

·    Mr. Attwood within his appointed capacity, will be responsible for;

·    Leading the construction, commissioning, and day-to-day operations of mining and processing facilities in East Africa.

·    Providing technical and operational oversight to optimise production, maintain safety, and ensure projects meet or exceed design specifications and budget expectations.

·    Coordinating key operational functions including maintenance, engineering, quality control, and cost management to ensure delivery of tonnage and product specifications.

·    Driving integration and optimisation between exploration, construction, and production functions.

·    Promoting a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.

·    Acting as a key liaison with local stakeholders including government authorities, suppliers, communities, and other regional partners to enhance the Company's operational reputation and manage risk.

·    Supporting the CEO and COO in the management of regional stakeholder engagement and develop and mentor direct reports and generally coach the team towards delivery of solutions that balance cost and quality.

·    Mr. Ruheni will assume a new expanded role within the Company as its Director of Strategic Initiatives

·    Within this role he will not only be focused on accelerating growth across our current East African battery and critical metals mining and processing operations but will also be looking at new opportunities and also identifying more broader value-addition projects including further processing and refining of these metals to product a higher-value product.

·    Mr. Ruheni will be responsible for;

·    Developing and implementing strategies to broaden Marula's footprint across jurisdictions and commodities, with a focus on long-term value creation.

·    Working with government and private sector institutions, with major universities and technical colleges and with community-based and non-governmental institutions.

·    Driving Marula's commitment to sustainable mining, ensuring that all strategic initiatives align with international ESG standards, including environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

·    Supporting permitting, compliance, and advocacy for sustainable project development.

·    Providing regular updates, strategic briefings, and investment cases to the Executive team and Board of Directors.

·    This role is important for the Company's long-term presence in the region, its commitment to sustainable development and to value addition projects.
